NOMINATIONS NOW OPEN FOR FRIENDS OF OASIS BOARD OF DIRECTORS
It is time to start thinking about the election for members of the Friends of OASIS Board of Directors. The election process is laid out in the Friends’ bylaws. There are twenty-one directors, each of whom serves a three-year term. Every year, seven of the directors complete their terms and an election is held in June to fill these seats. New directors take office July 1.
A nominating committee, as required in the bylaws, is appointed by the board president to prepare a slate of candidates for the board. Board members with expiring terms are eligible for candidacy for another term without limit. However, all Friends’ members who are interested in serving are encouraged to place their names in nomination. Friday, March 8 is the deadline for candidates to register to have their photos and biographies appear in the May issue of the OASIS News. Biographies must be limited to 50 words or fewer. Voting closes at noon on Friday, June 7.
On April 5, at the Membership Monthly Get Together, the slate of consenting candidates for July 1 vacant positions will be presented. Nominations from the floor will also be accepted at that time. Nominations will close immediately after the meeting.
Board members are expected to attend all board meetings, to participate objectively in board deliberations and discussions and to serve on at least one committee or in one activity.
