The OASIS Travel Department invites you to join them for one of their exciting day trips.
With a variety of destinations from museums and musicals to gardens, gambling casinos and more, there is definitely a trip for you to enjoy! All day trips include deluxe transportation from the OASIS Senior Center to the destination and return. Extended trips are offered through the Travel Department and flyers are posted in the Travel office.
Come by the OASIS Senior Center and meet the Travel Department volunteers or call them at 949.718.1810 for assistance. They will be most happy to help you find the trip of your choice. Trips are sold on a first come-first sign-up basis.

Travel to Pasadena and upon arrival at the museum and before it opens, enjoy a private tour of their Modern World collection, early Renaissance through the 20th century. Later, view the special exhibit Matisse/Odalisque (a harem slave
or concubine) that shows how artists exploit the tension between reality and artifice in their images. View the works of Matisse, Picasso, Bazille and others. Box lunch included at the Norton Simon Garden Café.

Our first stop in Los Angeles will be at the Judson Studios, the oldest family-run stained glass studio in America. We will have a guided tour and view their exquisite, handcrafted product representing the best in traditional and modern design. Lunch with a choice of entrée included at the Taix French Restaurant located in its present location since 1962. Then onto the Hollyhock House, Frank Lloyd Wright’s first Los Angeles project, recently renovated. The hollyhock flower was the favorite of the original owner, Alice Barnsdall, and was incorporated into the house on its roofline, walls and columns. Tour on your own with docents available for information and answering any questions. PLEASE NOTE: ATTENDEES MUST WEAR FLAT SHOES, PREFERABLY RUBBER SOLED AND WITH A MINIMUM HEEL WIDTH OF TWO INCHES ARE REQUIRED. NO STILETTO SHOES (SPIKE HEEL) MAY BE WORN INSIDE. SHOE COVERS WILL BE PROVIDED AND MUST BE WORN INSIDE THE HOUSE.

L.A.’S Hidden Gardens

A professional step-on guide and L.A. history buff, Curt Tucker, will explore a number of “hidden gardens” in the L.A. area beginning with the Arlington Garden in Pasadena, then the Los Angeles Police Academy garden. There you will enjoy included lunch at their kitschy 1950’s diner-style Police Academy Café. After lunch visit the gardens at Our Lady Queen of Angels Cathedral, Walt Disney Concert Hall, a well-kept secret garden in Bunker Hill and the James Irvine Japanese Garden.

This tour provides an in depth, docent-guided tour of the campus and is the only way to learn about JPL’s history and accomplishments with an opportunity to see Mission Control. Prior to the tour, enjoy lunch on your own amongst the many quaint shops and restaurants in Old Pasadena. When booking, you must provide your full legal name as it appears on your driver’s license or other government identification and present it at time of tour. Walking shoes suggested as there is considerable walking on the tour.
