FRIENDS OF OASIS FUNDING...

Friends of OASIS (Friends) has kept its dues low so everyone can participate. As a result, dues do not provide nearly enough funds for Friends to carry out its mission. Five ways are used to supplement the dues.

Donations are most frequently made when memberships are taken out or renewed or during the annual donations drive, but they may be made at anytime. They are Friends’ most regular source of funds. All members and friends of Friends are encouraged to contribute as much as they comfortably can. Their contributions are accumulated so that each donation adds to the sum of all previous ones. In that way, members and friends move up through the donor classifications on the donor wall.

Fund Raisers such as Casino Night and the annual Boutique contribute significantly to the funding of Friends programs

Grants from various foundations are available for the asking if the use intended by Friends matches the intent of the foundation. The grants are generally in the $5,000 to $10,000 range although occasionally are higher. Grant requests are prepared and submitted every year.

Bequests incorporated in member and non-member’s wills are received from time to time and add to the capital that produces income through payment of interest and capital gains. It is the treasurer’s responsibility to invest Friends’ capital so as to generate the most income while limited to the safest investments.

Interest and Capital Gains according to the market.
